This Tel Aviv gallery strives to encourage critical thinking and to challenge viewers’ conventional conceptions of Africa as a cultural entity. Through a programme of exhibitions and cultural events it seeks to bring African art to the Israeli public, hoping to foster an appreciation for the continent’s rich and diverse heritages. The African Studies Gallery is not a commercial gallery, but focuses instead on the broader goal of stimulating discussion, inquisitiveness and understanding. Each exhibition takes a slightly different format, and often includes more than one artist focusing around a central theme or idea.
